New Neve Outboard Recall software version introduces 8801 ‘as-was’ power-on feature

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

A new version of Neve Recall software for compatible outboard units has been released which includes a firmware update to the 8801 unit. Once installed, the 8801 unit will remember the settings at the point where it is turned off – so it will power on in the same state.

The new Recall version can be downloaded from the 8801 product page (or the product pages for the 2254/R, 8803, 8804 & 8816) and installed to a PC or Mac (Intel only)

Existing users can also download a compressed file which contains all the necessary files to burn to a CD-ROM to create an up to date Recall installation CD. The compressed file can be downloaded from here.

Getting wound up about; Neve transformers

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

We’ve recently been contacted about the history and detail surrounding the transformers used in Neve classic modules (and other units too), which help to deliver the unique Neve sound. Some of the questions and statements we received were partially correct and some of them were incorrect. ‘Urban legend’ surrounding this matter becomes more and more distorted as time goes by. While it is not only the transformers that create the amazing Neve sonic footprint that is globally revered, they do play a very important part in the audio path.
With this in mind… (click here to see the full story);
