Let’s be discrete about this……

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Lots of people have asked about the circuit design used in the Neve 1073LB module, when compared to the Neve 1073 Classic module mic/pre circuit that it based on.

The 1073LB uses original discrete components, utilising BC184′s and the 2N3055. No part of the audio circuit of the 1073LB uses IC’s, it is the same circuit design and has exactly the same audio performance as the 1073 Classic Mic/Pre circuit.

IC’s are used in the 1073LB module in non-audio specific areas – for the intelligent control features.

A picture can say a thousand words; click on the image below to see all of the 1073LB internals.

Mike Oldfield’s Tower of Neve Power

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Mike Oldfield recently chose 8x Neve 8801 Channel Strip units to be the front-end to his perfect DAW set-up;

” After years of trying to put together the perfect Digital Audio Workstation, I have finally opted for the superb Neve 8801 as my analog front end.
These all in one EQ and Dynamics units, together with AD/DA convertors, take the entire input and output workload away from the Mac and enable me to work in near zero latency mode for all live recording, overdubbing and mixing.

Together with the Classic Neve sound, working is easy and inspiring again ”
